From September 26th to 28th, 2025, the 5th International Academic Conference on Mechatronics Technology and Aerospace Engineering (ICMTAE2025) and the First International Conference on Applied Mechanics (ICAM2025) were successfully held in Fuzhou. The conference was hosted by Fuzhou University, and was organized by the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation at Fuzhou University, the National Key Laboratory of Aerospace Structures, the National Key Laboratory of Strength and Structural Integrity, the Special Structures Research Institute of Aviation Industry Group in Jinan, the Editorial Department of "Journal of Applied Mechanics", the Aerospace College of Xiamen University, and other units in collaboration. The Fujian Provincial Key Laboratory of Terahertz Functional Devices and Intelligent Sensing also jointly participated in the conference.

The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Ren Zhiying, Executive Vice Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation of Fuzhou University, overseeing comprehensive administration of the school.
At the opening ceremony on the morning of the 27th, Wang Xiangyang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of Fuzhou University, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the conference host. He extended a sincere welcome to the domestic and international experts and scholars who had traveled from afar, emphasizing that the conference aimed to establish a high-level international platform for exchange. He expressed the hope that in-depth dialogues would stimulate cutting-edge innovative thinking and promote substantive research collaborations. The Honorary Chair of the conference, Academician Tu Shandong of East China University of Science and Technology, delivered a congratulatory address, affirming the significant role of the ICMTAE conference in promoting interdisciplinary integration and technological leadership. He also highlighted the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration and innovation in the fields of mechatronics and aerospace engineering.

The conference invited academicians Chen Xiaodong from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, Shen Weiming from Fuyao University of Science and Technology and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Deputy Chief Engineer Chen Meng from the 805 Institute of the 8th Research Institute of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, Professor Graziano Chesi from the University of Hong Kong, Professor from Oxford University, Professor Lu Guoxing from Zhejiang University, Professor Qiu Jianbin from Harbin Institute of Technology, Professor Zhao Liguo from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Professor Wang Bing from Fuzhou University to deliver the keynote speeches. Professors Yang Shuming from Xi'an Jiaotong University, Qing Xinlin from Xiamen University, Researcher Wu Lixin from Fujian Institute of Materials Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Zhou Jin from Xi'an Jiaotong University respectively presided over the keynote speeches.

On the morning of the 28th, six parallel sub-forums were held simultaneously. Over 70 guests delivered reports on topics such as "Aerospace Structural Strength and Integrity", "Aerospace Equipment Mechanisms and Dynamics", "Precision Machinery and Intelligent Maintenance", "Robot Design, Manufacturing and Control Technology", "Electromagnetic Functional Structure Design and Intelligent Manufacturing", and "Applied Mechanics". Professors such as Qiu Renhui from Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, Ramesh Agarwal from Washington University in St. Louis, China, Xu Jiaxin from Hunan Normal University, Cai Jianguo from Southeast University, Fu Kunkun from Tongji University, and Chen Yanhong from Harbin Institute of Technology, along with other experts, shared their research findings, triggering in-depth discussions; researchers such as Yang Yu from the China Aircraft Strength Research Institute and Wang Xin from the China Aviation Materials Research Institute of China Aviation Industry Corporation focused on engineering applications, demonstrating the vitality of industry-university-research collaboration.

On the evening of September 26, the inaugural meeting of the second Young Editorial Board of the Journal of Applied Mechanics was successfully convened. Hosted by Huang Chongya, Director of the Journal's Editorial Office, the event gathered over 60 young scholars from 43 leading domestic and international universities. The meeting reviewed the journal’s development journey and featured the ceremonial presentation of appointment letters to the newly elected young editorial board members. This gathering not only consolidated the academic strength of young talents but also highlighted the vibrant, enduring spirit of the journal’s legacy.
